As a semi-permanent sponsor for the Games since 1986 Seoul Asian Games, Samsung’s full commitment to Asian Games started from 1998 when it participated as official partner of the Bangkok Asian Games. Several innovative marketing initiatives such as Team Samsung, Samsung social Caster and Samsung MVP Award programs are designed and operated to bring the Asian games experience to audiences across Asia to greater heights.
Yung Kook Lee, Vice President and Head of Experience Marketing Group of Samsung Electronics stated that “Samsung is proud to be the Prestige Partner of 17th Asian Games in Incheon once again and we will continue to work hard to make this global sporting event successful. Through Samsung’s smart technology, we hope to provide innovative and interactive experiences for fans across Asia with the spirit of athletics to encourage and inspire. Here in Malaysia as we kick off Samsung “Our Games, Our Pride” campaign together with Asian fans and athletes, we expect to ride the wave that will carry the passion and energy all the way for the successful Games.”
Team Samsung Program brings together 27 sports elites from national teams of China, Thailand, Malaysia, India and Jordan. “Samsung has always shown immense level of support in the arena of sports for both the fans and the athletes. Needless to say, I am so honored to be part of Team Samsung. I personally resonate with Samsung’s campaign tagline this year “Our Games, Our Pride,” said Dato’ Lee Chong Wei. He believes that sports have always been a strong common ground that Malaysians can stand on together and he hopes to be able to provide Malaysians with reason to cheer with pride during upcoming Asian Games.
On the other hand, Pandelela Rinong articulated that “I have always appreciated Samsung’s continuous support and belief in athletes and encouragement and inspiring the Malaysians. I’m indeed very glad to have been chosen to represent Team Samsung in this coming Asian Games 2014. I hope to recover from my injury very soon and do well at the Games.”
Meanwhile, Samsung also introduced “Samsung Social Casters” to bring the team’s stories closer to the fans. The group consists of nine professional bloggers from China, Thailand and Malaysia where they will be capturing and sharing the moments in Incheon on various social media channels via Samsung’s smart technology. Wilson Ng and Tian Chad Chen, Malaysian bloggers from @placesandfoods are appointed as the Samsung Social Casters to promote the Samsung campaigns for 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
